Hello. I am known by many of my students as Mr. M. I am originally from the state of Indiana. I grew up (although some will argue the claim) in a small town called Mackey, population 125, and attended high school at Wood Memorial in Oakland City. The high school had an enrollment of 384 students my senior year, so I am very much at home in a small town environment. I joined the work force after high school and worked in home construction and then at a steel plant for several years before deciding to continue my education.
I attended the University of Southern Indiana where I earned a BS in English Teaching and Secondary Education. After receiving my degree, I moved to Northern Kentucky where I accepted a job with Covington Independent Schools teaching at Holmes. I moved to Ohio County during the summer of 2002 to teach English at the high school. I began my stay at OCHS teaching sophomores and seniors. I moved to all freshman classes when we adopted a Freshman Academy SLC. From there I have moved to teaching the Accelerated English I and II classes. I also serve as the English Department Chair.
I continued with my personal education earning an MED in Curriculum and Assessment Design from Indiana Wesleyan University. I took a break and then pursued an MA in Education from the University of the Cumberlands in the Reading and Writing Specialist program. I currently coach the cross country team in the summer and fall and the track and field team in the winter and spring. In my spare time, I sleep.
