Writing Program Review at Western:  Teachers are working hard to teach students writing concepts and skills.  Several teachers have attended writing professional developoment training during this school year in order to gain a better understanding of writing with the Common Core Content Standards.  Our Writing Committee meetings to review writing throughout the grade levels, and each student has a working writing folder that is checked each 9 weeks.  Communicate with your child's teacher to gain a better understanding of what your child is learning in the classroom.

K-3 Program Review at Western:   K-3 staff members are required to collect evidence throughout the school year related to Curriculum and Instruction, Formative and Summative Assessment, Professional Development, and Administrative Support and Monitoring.  Teachers submit this evidence to a committee for review each 9 weeks.  At the end of the school year, this evidence will be compiled and scored.  K-3 Program Review will factor into our school's overall KPREP score.
